Art festival Hattem

On Saturday 20th May Hattem will be completely dedicated to Art. Discover various art disciplines, enjoy live music and meet inspiring artists. This outdoor event has drawn artists from all over the Netherlands for many years and there are a great number of creative activities for young and old.

Art Market
This year even more artists are given the opportunity to present themselves. Distributed over the entire town, from the Voermanplein, via the Geldersedijk to the Kruisstraat and even unto the Kerkplein, many art works and demonstrations are to be admired on the art market. Various art disciplines are represented, from the Visual Arts to Glass Art and from unique Jewellery to Ceramics and more.

Workshops
In the Kruisstraat you will discover that crochet and knitting is really trendy. Get yourself inspired by the many colours, paint techniques, live wool dying demonstrations and set yourself to work enthusiastically In the ‘’living room’’ of Twee Steekjes Los (lit. two stitches loose, i.e. two screws loose) where you can participate in knitting or crocheting on SockArt which at the end of the day will be combined into one unique work of art. A bit further down you can discover your own creative talent in the circular art workshop with waste materials. Do take part and go home with your very own recycle creation. In the graffiti workshop you learn about various spray techniques under the guidance of a professional graffiti artist and you can discover your own graffiti style.

Sculpture
In the Achterstraat you can be introduced to the art of sculpture. The sculptors’ guild of Hattem will give various demonstrations and children can try their hand on marl or soapstone.

Follow the red shoes to the Plein bij de Molen (Square near the Windmill) and be surprised by handicraft demonstrations such as making hats. Admire the works of art on display and experience how theatre, music and sculpture come together in performance art and let yourself be transported into their world in red. Pleasant music and surprising street theatre complete this annual event. Come to Hattem, express yourself creatively, be inspired and enjoy all forms of art.
